    EMCOMM Level-1 Class

    The date for the first Emcomm-I online class kick-off seminar will be starting February 11th at the Wasoe County Regional EOC from 09:00AM -12:00PM.

     Doug Abramson (KA7FOO), an ARES/ARES certified instructor will be instructing and guiding students through the  WEB based online classroom sessions.

  • Description. This course is designed to provide basic knowledge and tools for any emergency communications volunteer. The course has 6 sections with 29 lesson topics. It includes required student activities, a 35-question final assessment and is expected to take approximately 45 hours to complete over a 9-week period. You will have access to the course platform at any time of day during this 9-week period so you may work according to your own schedule. You must pace yourself to be sure you complete all the required material in the allotted time.

    Prerequisites. Before you begin the course you should have completed the following prerequisites. These courses provide a foundation for the content of this course. These are free mini-courses you can take online at http://training.fema.gov/IS/NIMS.asp.

     

     ARES also has 20-books, requires material for the class; available at a cost of $20.00 each

    • Ham Cram Study Session—Technician, General, and Extra Class
      A Ham Cram study session for those wishing to receive their initial Amateur Radio License, or for those wishing to upgrade their licenses to General or Extra, will be held at: the Regional Emergency Operational Center (REOC), 5195 Spectrum Blvd, Reno, Nevada 89512, beginning at 8:00am. Instruction materials cost $9.00 for Technician, $10.00 for General, and $12.00 for Extra. The exam fee is $15.00. Please RSVP to Bob Miller, WA6MTY, at wa6mty@gbis.com.
